Sanitation & Recycling

The City of Archie contracts with Municipal Waste Services for solid waste collection and recycling. Everyone within the city limits is required to have garbage collection and all residential customers within the city limits are required to have recycling collection.

Most trash and debris, when properly bundled and/or contained properly, can be disposed of at curbside with your regular garbage service day which is Friday. If assistance is needed or you have questions for the city, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Recyclable items include Plastics #1-5 and #7, newspapers including inserts, magazines, catalogues, telephone books, brown paper bags, office paper, computer papers, notebook paper, chipboard (cereal, cake, mix, gift boxes), carrier stock (soda cases), paperback books, cardboard, aluminum and metal food cans, aluminum trays, foil, steel cans, and tins



Items that cannot be accepted at this time are glass, plastic bags, motor oil, automotive product bottles, household hazardous waste containers, Styrofoam, hot ashes or cinders, shrub trimmings, yard trimmings, tree trunks or limbs, street sweepings, catch basin mulch, construction materials, appliances, large furniture, nothing with Freon or hazardous waste.

 

Bulky item pickup is available free of charge once per month for residential customers. These items include items other than normal household trash including, but not limited to, furniture and other items which cannot be safely and conveniently loaded into a solid waste transportation vehicle.

Excluded items are: appliances, concrete, bricks, large vehicle parts, tires, abandoned cars, whole trees, and construction materials.

  • Curbside Pickup
    Curbside yard waste pickup takes place on the first collection day of each month.

 

 

 

Please remember that plastic bags, plastic sacks, and garbage bags cannot be included in curbside or drop off recycling.  Please place loose recyclables only.

Tin cans

Not allowable items:
Glass - can be recycled in the Price Chopper Parking Lot
Styrofoam
Plastic bags - can be recycled at some retailers including Price Chopper
Garbage bags
Plastic sacks
Pet littler
Pizza boxes

Frequently Asked Questions

When are the garbage collection days for my street?

Friday is the regular weekly pickup day unless a recognized Holiday falls within that week, pickup will then be on Saturday.
